Ground Rules
- Homeworks will be assigned once a week.
Formatting Instructions
Please follow these formatting instructions:
- Write on letter-size paper.
- Put your name and homework number on top.
- Indicate the chapter/section.
- Do not write in multiple columns. (This means: start each line at the left margin; whatever space is left at the right hand side, use it for graphs/sketches or just leave it blank.)
- Separate problems by an end-to-end horizontal line.
- Show your work, include every step of your reasoning.
- Underline, encircle, highlight or box your final result.
- Staple together multiple pages. (This means using a stapler. Folding a corner is not stapling!)
- Make it legible.
Deadlines and Turning In
- Homeworks are due at the beginning of the class (at 1:01 PM).
- Late homework will not be accepted for any reason.
- If you come in late, hand in you homework immediately, not at the end of the class.
- If you have an emergency, notify me in advance.
- You can leave your homework at the Math 108 office (the big counter on the first floor of the main Math building). Just fill in the form, mark my name on top of your work and leave it in the tray. (The deadlines still apply though!)
Grading
- Selected problems will be graded.
- My grading notation:
- a check mark means full credit,
- a check mark with a decimal number in front of it (e.g. 0.8) means partial credit,
- a cross means no credit.
- Homework grades will be posted on D2L.
- Each homework will be graded on a 10 point scale. These are not points directly counting towards your final grade, they will be scaled down!
- 100 total homework points are counting towards your final grade (out of a maximum of 600 points, see the course policy). So, your combined homework grades showing up on D2L will be scaled to a maximum of 100 points in the end.
