Ground Rules
- Homeworks will be assigned once a week.
Formatting Instructions
Please follow the formatting instructions from the course policy:
- Write on letter-size paper with no fringes.
- Put your name and homework number on top.
- Indicate the chapter/section for every problem (e.g. 2.5.12 for problem 12 in section 5 of chapter 2).
- Do not write in multiple columns. (This means: start each line at the left margin; whatever space is left at the right hand side, use it for graphs/sketches or just leave it blank.)
- Write sequentially. (This means: if one line logically follows after another, the former should be written below the latter, or on a subsequent page.)
- Separate problems by an end-to-end horizontal line.
- Underline, encircle, highlight or box your final result.
- Staple together multiple pages. (This means using a stapler. Folding a corner is not stapling!)
- Make it legible.
Deadlines and Turning In
- Homeworks are due at the beginning of the class (at 11:05am).
- Late homework will not be accepted for any reason.
- If you come in late, hand in you homework immediately, not at the end of the class.
- If you have an emergency, notify me in advance.
Grading
- Selected problems will be graded.
- My grading notation:
- a check mark means full credit,
- a check mark with a decimal number in front of it (e.g. 0.8) means partial credit,
- a cross means no credit.
- Homework grades will be posted on D2L.
- Each homework will be graded on a 10 point scale. These are not points directly counting towards your final grade, they will be rescaled!
- 100 total homework and quiz points are counting towards your final grade (out of a maximum of 600 points, see the course policy). So, your combined homework and quiz grades showing up on D2L will be scaled to a maximum of 100 points in the end.
